Welcome to Seasons of the World Tree

posted in: Life as Usual 4

Merry Meet, friends!

And welcome to my new home on the web.

This new site will be my permanent blogging home, as well as one of my places for creative outlet.

“Old” readers, friends, and family, please forgive me for being absent for so long! I never intended for such a lapse to happen, and hope you’ll forgive me (especially after seeing this beautiful new space I’ve been working so hard on!). I’m working on putting things in place so there is no longer a lapse of such epic proportion, and I promise to keep it up.

New readers, please check out my “Who Am I?” page for a bit more detail about what I intend to and have written about, or go ahead and page through the archives of my blog brought over from my old space!

It probably comes as no surprise to most of you who know me that I chose to base my website on one of my favorite things: a tree! And not just any tree, but the World Tree.

Trees have been a prominent figure and symbol in my life. I grew up climbing them (much to the chagrin of many of the adults around me), and spending time in and with them, and fell in love with them early. There is a wisdom in trees. Even young trees are older than you imagine, and old trees have seen more years than you or I could even begin to ponder. There is a message of connection in trees. Their roots grow deep, drinking in the earth and all it has to offer, their trunks grow tall and broad, marking their age with each passing year, and their branches spread wide, relishing in the seasons of the world wherever they may be. Each with it’s own different purpose but both working together to foster a long and healthy life.
The World TreeThe World Tree takes those thoughts another step, imagining the world we live in as a giant tree whose roots, trunk, and branches all house different animals, plants, and people. Those branches and roots are inextricably connected to one another, and must work together in order to survive and thrive.

This website will be the home (or trunk, if you will) of my journey, and that of my family, through the branches and roots of the World Tree. Learning more about who I am, who we are as a family, where we came from, and where we are going.

I hope to make this website a place where I can express myself creatively through more visual arts, as well. Most of the artwork (the tree in the background, most of the photos, and drawn images) you see here is probably mine, unless otherwise noted.

Speaking of which, I need to make a shout-out, and a resounding “Thank you!” to my good friend, Deven Rue, who helped me build this page, and designed the world tree image (through her beautiful pyrography work) that was the inspiration for my school name, as well as this website.

I invite you to explore the world with me, and also to converse with me if you feel so inclined. Please feel free to comment on anything you see here, or send me a message, if you like!

I hope you enjoy this new place to visit, as well as journeying along with me through my blog on the many different aspects of my life.
